Little Loves

By David Spence

Marc Chagall’s Jacob’s Dream

Hold hands and cry

Whilst wondering why

Life can sometimes be so cruel

And how love makes you look a fool

But learn and enthuse

And I’ll lift up those blues

And I will tell you of a time when she was mine

And how we’ve all shared these

Little loves

These little loves

Are just enough

To keep us from falling down too far

These little loves

Remember those days

And all of the ways

How they made you feel so good

And how you felt so understood

Yearn for those moments

One single moment

That may never come again

Will it ease your pain?

If I tell you about my

Little loves

My little loves

Are just enough

Are not enough

And sometimes when I’m on my own

I take myself back to those places

And recreate my own theatre

I sometimes swop around the faces

Cos people just don’t understand

Exactly what I’m trying to say

My only audience is angels

I think I like it better that way

Helped me to see

What I could be

Just sometimes need a little faith

To get me back into the race

If you think of me

As I think of you

Then I shall smile

I shall embrace

All of these little loves
