Waves

By Emma Landsburgh

Gustave Courbet's 'The Wave'

I have always

Wondered what it

Would be like to drift out into sea.

Into the vast

Open, expanse of the ocean, venturing into

The unknown. To feel a sense of

Weightlessness, as all your worries

And concerns drowned to the ocean floor.

Feel wave after wave hit over you.

Taste the salt water on your tongue.

Your emotions spike with the

Weather. Anger rolls in as if

Its a dark cloud filled with

Rain and thunder. Your

Emotions hitting you as hard

As a wave controlled by

The storm.

I had always wondered what

It would be like to drift out

Into sea. The only thing is

I’m already drowning on land.
